RADIO PROGRAMMING REQUEST PROCESS

If you need a radio or a group of radios programmed, the process is initiated by sending an email to programming@uca911.org with the pertinent information. Shortly thereafter you will receive a response either seeking additional information or scheduling an appointment for the work in the very near future. Technicians are available to program radios at our corporate offices or to come to your location, depending on needs and circumstances. Our goal is to provide an invaluable service to agencies that utilize both the 800MHz and VHF LMR networks.

The turnaround time on programming requests is, obviously, highly dependent on demand, however, at present, most programming requests are resolved in 1-2 business days. The cost for these services is the flat fee of $10 per radio.

Overview of Programming Process

Step 1.  Email a programming request to programming@uca911.org and include the Manufacturer Model #, Serial Number, and Flash Code Number (see image for example, information found under the battery for handhelds and on the tail unit of a mobile, usually in the trunk).

Step 2.  UCA receives your request and verifies the information in the system for accuracy and subscriber verification.

Step 3.  Requested template is authored or confirmed by the Programming Manager or Programming Author (James Baker or Dan Dialogue).

Step 4.  Appointment for programming is made with the requesting party/agency.

Step 5.  UCA’s Programmer travels to user to load template into end-user radio(s).

HOW TO OBTAIN YOUR FLASH CODE?

  1. Power on the radio. The radio will beep when operational.
  2. Within 5-seconds of the radio becoming operational, press the BOTTOM SIDE BUTTON 5-times.
  3. After pressing the side button 5-times, the radio will display SERVICE.
  4. Using the round, 4-way pad on the front of the radio, use the RIGHT ARROW to scroll to the screen that shows FLASHCODE with a string of characters below it.
  5. When arriving at the FLASHCODE screen, use the LEFT ARROW to pause the display so that the Flashcode can be written down.
